Found on the tundra on Bathurst Island, NWT, Canada, this wolf appears to have been shot witha rifle of greater than .3" calibre. The bullet has torn out a large section of the lower rearof the skull, and even after exiting still had enough energy to carry away the ascending ramus of the jaw, taking with it part of the zygomatic bone. Compare with the .22 bullet page, where the projectile doesnot have the energy to exit from a seal skull.
