All cat species have very short snouts, with a reduced number of cheek teeth. The eye sockets are very large, in a domestic cat the vertical diameter of the eye socket is greater than the length of the snout.
The skull of a wild cat (Felis sylvestris) is said to be larger and more robust, but as hybridisation may have been taking place since Roman times, there may not be a clear distinction between "wild" and "domestic" cats in Britain.

This is a rather small animal, probably a female. Another skull in my collection, from a large male ("Sooty") has a condylobasal length of 92.3mm.

Latin Name : Felis "a cat", catus - alternative latin word for a cat.
