Standard References

I have chosen three websites as standard sources of further taxonomic or ecological information about each species.

Wilson & Reeder's Mammal Species of the World, a searchable taxonomic list published by the Smithsonian, and also by Bucknell University

Mammalian Species, a catalogue of over 800 monographs on individual mammal species published by the American Society of Mammalogists. Most of them are old enough to be missing important new references but are still a useful source of information. Browseable but not searchable - except via an external search engine.

University of Michigan Animal Diversity Web. Excellent resource on mammals and other taxa compiled by students. Many of the pages include skull photographs.
